Jumputan
Palembang, Yogyakarta and Surakarta
Tie-dye: small points of cloth pinched up and bound tight with thread before the bath, so each tie leaves rings of undyed cloth with fine streaks where the folds let dye in. The name comes from jumput, to pinch up with the fingertips.
Worn every day and at celebrations. Palembang jumputan is known for bright colours, and many labels now combine it with batik on one cloth.
